KAI suspends official taking bribe from detained environmental defaulters

CITIZENS COMPASS— The Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI on Friday, said it has suspended one of its officials who was captured taking bribes in a viral video.

According to the video, the official was demanding a bribe from some detained environmental defaulters in one of its Green Maria trucks.

LAGESC spokesperson, Ajayi Lukman, gave updates about the steps taken against the erring official.

Ajayi in a statement said: The attention of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI has been drawn to a viral video making the rounds on social media, showing a KAI operative receiving cash bribes from detained environmental defaulters in one of our Green Maria trucks.

The operative identified in the video has been summoned and placed on operational leave pending internal investigations to be undertaken by the Agency’s Provost and Administrative Department in line with extant rules of the Lagos State Civil Service.

Corps Marshal of the Agency, Major Olaniyi Olatunbosun Cole (Rtd) reiterates zero tolerance to indiscipline and all forms of corruption, just as he promised speedy investigation into the viral video.

The Agency assures Lagosians of continuous and improved service delivery in alignment with the THEMES+ agenda of Mr. Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to make Lagos habitable for business.
