Lagos arrests 20 for open defecation
CITIZENS COMPASS–The Lagos State Government has arrested 20 people for defecating openly around Ojodu – Berger area of the State.
The arrest took place on Saturday night and early hours of Sunday.
Disclosing this on his X Handle, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI, effected the arrest.

“During patrol and monitoring of Ojodu – Berger yesterday night and early hours of today, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps @LAGESCOfficial arrested 20 individuals for committing environmental infractions.”
Recall that the Ministry said it would crack down on any individual, group or organisation found flouting the environmental laws in the State.
A Stakeholders’ Meeting on Thursday, August 22, 2024, which was held at the LAGESC’s headquarters in Bolade-Oshodi said the state government would construct public toilets at some strategic locations to curb the menace of open defecation especially at the Berger axis and other affected areas.
Citizens Compass reported that the state government had recruited some people to ensure compliance.
