Lagos fire service commemorates 2023 International Firefighters’ Day

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – A two-day workshop is currently ongoing in Ikeja, Lagos State to commemorate 2023 International Firefighters’ Day. 

The event title, “Effective Communication Skills; An Essential Management Tool” is courtesy, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service

The workshop which is aimed at sharpening the managerial skills of Officers in charge of the State Fire Stations is holding at the NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja from Thursday, May 4 to Friday- May 5.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations when declaring the workshop open reiterates the government commitment to Public Order and Safety to justify huge investment in the sector in line with Security and Governance as enshrined in the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.

Ogunlende spoke on the need to raise competency among personnel who are saddled with the responsibility of managing tax payers’ resources which is envision in the Sanwo-Olu’s administration policy thrust. He however paid courtesy to the memory of late Firefighters while saluting those in service of humanity in line with the day’s global celebrations.

The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Adeseye Margaret in her welcome remarks, admonished the Officers to see the opportunity as to learn, unlearn and relearn. She informed that the government has invested a lot in the agency and the need to build human capacity to be efficient managers of such resources at it disposal cannot be overemphasised. 

Assuring the teeming Firefighters that it is a continuous exercise. 

She concluded by using the occasion of the International Firefighters Day to re-echo Mr Governor’s assurances of a good welfare package  for the agency’s personnel .
