CITIZENS COMPASS— Popular Gospel singer, Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwasings was rushed to eight different hospitals during a frantic effort to rescue him from an untimely death yesterday.
However, he could not make it as he was pronounced dead.
His Personal Assistant (PA), Babadunni Gbolabo, disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists at the residence of the deceased in Oluwakehin, Alakia area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Babadunni said the team rushed Toluwasings to the eight different hospitals for emergency treatment but one of the hospitals rejected him on the account that the doctors were on industrial action.
Babadunni said the first port of call was to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, where the doctors were on strike and the sympathisers subsequently moved from one hospital to another in search of help, hoping that medical personnel would be able to revive the singer.
The aide said they visited about seven or eight hospitals in total, with some reportedly citing the strike or the unavailability of doctors.
He also said Toluwanisings was hail and hearty before he slumped at home.
The late singer was said to have ministered at a church programme in Ibadan on Tuesday.
His family in a statement issued late Wednesday and posted on his social media handles said burial arrangements would be announced later.
According to the post, “With deep sorrow, the family announces the passing of Minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, Toluwani Gospel Music Ministry (TOGOMM), who passed away in the early hours of 14 October 2026,” the statement read.
“A dearly loved husband, family member, and gospel minister. Please keep his wife, family, and loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time.”
Some trending videos captured Toluwanisings performing at Bidemi Olaoba’s concert in Ibadan on Tuesday.
He was said to have complained of severe tiredness at his Ibadan residence the following morning.
Different groups of mourners have since thronged his residence as captured in some videos.
Toluwasings carved a niche for himself in 2021. From a Muslim background, Toluwasings spent 12 years in the entertainment industry as a Fuji singer before his conversion into Christianity.
He was said to be discovered by a comedian, Bayegun Oluwatoyin popularly known as Woli Arole who posted videos of some of his works which generated about 42 Millions streams on Audiomack.
On Friday, January 25, 2026, he celebrated his 5th wedding anniversary with Itohan whom he said in a podcast that it took six years before she could accept a relationship with him.
In July 2026, Toluwasings and his band members survived an autocrash when a truck rammed into their official bus.
The late singer was said to have unveiled his Mercedes Benz on the night of Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
He was born in 1981.
