CITIZENS COMPASS— The lawmaker in the Federal House of Representatives, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Esosa Iyawe, has resigned from his position.

Esosa Iyawe was representing Oredo Federal Constituency in Edo State.

He cited irreconciliable differences between him and the State Governor, Monday Okpebholo as reasons for the resignation.

The lawmaker disclosed this in a letter directed to the Ward chairman in the Oredo Local Government area of the state.

In the letter dated Wednesday, May 7, 2026, the lawmaker said he would be joining the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) saying “this regrettable decision had been made after careful reflection and consideration”, while expressing gratitude to the APC for having the opportunity to be associated with the ruling party.

The resignation has generated mixed reactions from many quarters.
