Man sent to jail for assaulting KAI official 

…Residents sent for community service over indiscriminate dumping of refuse

CITIZENS COMPASS–A Mobile Court sitting in Oshodi, Lagos State, has sentenced a man to none months jail term.

The man identified as Paul was to serve the jail term for assaulting an official of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) popularly known as KAI.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Agbado Oke-Odo area when he crossed the highway and refused to use the pedestrian bridge.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, disclosed this on his X Handle formerly known as Twitter on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

“Paul was apprehended on the 16th of April for not using the pedestrian bridge at Agbado Oke Odo and in the process, he assaulted and wounded the enforcement personnel of @LAGESCOfficial (KAI). The Mobile Court sitting at Oshodi yesterday sentenced him to 9 months imprisonment.”

Similarly, the Commissioner said that the Lagos State Government has sent some residents of ibeju-Lekki to Community Services over indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the area.

He said, ‘“Community service is being carried out by the people apprehended while dumping indiscriminately on the Ibeju Lekki highways today.”
The Commissioner did not disclose the number of people involved.
