Panic as terrorists abduct 100-year-old traditional leader 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— A 100-year-old traditional leader in Kogi State, Chief Samuel Fagbemi, has been abducted.
He was reportedly abducted yesterday, alongside another traditional leader.

The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. when the assailants came on 20 motorcycles and invaded the Ihale-Bunu community in Kabba-Bunu Local Government area of the State.
The abductors were said to have invaded the community with 20 motorcycles at about 4 p.m.

Fagbemi who was abducted in front of his residence is the Ba’hale (second-in-command to the Oluhale).

The second victim, Chief Zacheus Sunday Fagbemi, was said to be abducted along Offere–Ihale Road while returning home.
He is not only a member of the Ihale Traditional Council but also a member of the Kogi State Vigilante Service.

The President of the Ihale Development Association (IDA), Chief P. M. B. Omolewa, who confirmed the invasion, said it has thrown the community into panic.

According to him, “Since this unfortunate incident, the entire Ihale community has been engulfed in panic, as the safety and security of lives and property can no longer be guaranteed.

“In view of this alarming situation, the Ihale Development Association urgently appeals to the Kabba–Bunu Local Government authorities, Kogi State Government, Federal Government of Nigeria, and all relevant security agencies to immediately swing into action,’ he appealed.

“The lives of our people must not be allowed to remain at the mercy of criminal elements. We sincerely appeal for immediate interventions,” he added.
