CITIZENS COMPASS— The Kano State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the death of one Ibrahim Khalil Danshagamu, ‘m’, of Gaida Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State.
The tragic incident when the Command received a distress report from the Vigilante Group Commander of Gaida Quarters that unknown hoodlums had forcibly entered the residence of the deceased and attacked him with sharp objects.
Spokesperson for the Command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, yesterday, confirmed this in a statement which stated that the incident occurred on Monday at about 2330hrs.
According to him: Operatives of Kumbotso Police Division responded promptly to the scene. The victim was immediately conveyed to Murtala Mohammad Specialists Hospital Kano for emergency medical attention, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, *CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, SFIPMA, MNIM, MNIPS, MASIS, the DPO Kumbotso Police Division, in collaboration with operatives of the Command’s tactical units and community stakeholders, conducted an intelligence-driven operation which resulted in the arrest of two suspects linked to the incident.
The suspects are currently in custody undergoing interrogation. The Command has intensified efforts to apprehend any other persons who may be connected to the crime. Statements are being obtained, and forensic procedures are ongoing to establish the full facts and motive behind the attack.
CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori expressed deep concern over the incident and extended sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of violent crime are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The Kano State Police Command will not relent in its mandate to protect lives and property. We assure the good people of Kano that justice will be pursued to its logical conclusion,” the CP stated.
The Command appreciates the Gaida Vigilante Group for the timely information provided, which facilitated the swift Police response. This underscores the effectiveness of community policing and partnership in crime prevention.
Members of the public are enjoined to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to the Police through the nearest Police Station or the Command’s emergency lines.
Investigation is ongoing. The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
In the meantime, additional patrols and intelligence gatherings have been deployed to Gaida and surrounding areas to maintain law and order and prevent any breakdown of peace.
