Police arrest Naira Marley over Mohbad’s death 

CITIZENS COMPASS —Following investigation into the death of Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, the Lagos State Police Command has arrested the CEO, Marlian Record Label, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley. 

He was arrested on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 shortly on arrival in Nigeria from a trip overseas. 

Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on his verified twitter page on Tuesday.

He wrote:

Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities…”

He added that he would also be meeting with the police.

Similarly, Naira Marley wrote on his social media page, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria, to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.

“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”

Recall that Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12 and was buried the following day. 

The Police later exhumed the body for autopsy but the results is yet to be announced. 

Mohbad’s death sparked violence as fans, friends and well wishers took to the streets. 

His death also raised suspicion from many quarters prompting Police to commence investigation.
