Policeman caught demanding N10, 000 bribe from motorist in Lagos 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS —An Assistant Superintendent of Police serving  at Ogudu Area Command of the Lagos State Police Command, ASP Luka Bashayi, has been captured on camera demanding the sum of N10, 000 bribe from a motorist in Lagos. 

The video surfaced online over the weekend  as shared by some X account handles in a bid to draw the attention of senior police officers to the video which immediately generated responses by both the State and Force spokesmen, SP Benjamin Hundeyin and ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who said the information would not be swept under the carpet. 

The video captured the ASP reeling out some digits perceived to be an account with Access Bank followed by an instruction that thr car owner should transfer N10, 000 without delay to avoid been taken to the police station. 

Although the offence committed by the car owner was not captured in the video, the conversation by the ASP went thus, “make am N10,000 , sharp sharp and go now” while the driver replied “I no get.”

The video was shared by @the_Lawrenz followed by a caption, 

“Awwwn, let’s make this hardworking officer famous. RT when you hear it”

Another X user, Chikwus, captioned the bideo tbus. “Very hardworking Nigeria police officer, “do sharp sharp and go nw” u know the matter😅😅😭😭

@Princemoye1 see ur men.”

Reacting, Hundeyin said, “We will not gloss over this. He is ASP Luka Bashayi, serving at Ogudu Area Command. 

“Meanwhile, @Lagos_PoliceCRU has commenced actions on this.”

In his response, Adejobi said, “This is not allowed, so shameful. It’s condemned. We need more info about this. We will fish him out.”
