CITIZENS COMPASS— The entertainment industry in Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the death of a popular highlife singer, Iyun Janet Ajilore popularly known as St. Janet.
The death of Saint Janet was announced in the early hours of Sunday by a publisher and socialite Otunba Femi Davies.
Davies announced the sudden death via his social media handles.
According to the publisher, the singer passed away on Saturday following a brief illness.
In his tribute, Davies wrote:
“St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), a popular Nigerian juju and highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence, and socially unfiltered party tracks is dead.
She died after a brief illness on Saturday.”
St. Janet was known for her bold, lewd lyrics and lively stage shows that made her a household name in the juju music scene. Her music, often filled with party anthems and direct social commentary, earned her a loyal fan base across Nigeria.
Fans and colleagues have since taken to social media to mourn the singer, remembering her for her unapologetic style and contributions to Nigerian music.
May her soul rest in peace.
