CITIZENS COMPASS— The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has arrested suspected miscreants and hoodlums terrorising motorists along the Lekki–Ajah corridor in Lagos State.
The suspects were arrested during a midnight enforcement operation within the vicinity.
Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this via his X handle on Sunday.
According to Wahab, the operation was directed at persons who allegedly harass and intimidate motorists, extort money from them, and, in some cases, vandalise vehicles when drivers refuse to yield to their demands.
He said the squad would sustain intelligence-led operations against criminal elements whose activities threaten public safety and disrupt free movement across the state.
“The operation was targeted at individuals who allegedly harass and intimidate motorists, extort money from them, and, in some instances, damage vehicles when motorists refuse to yield to their demands,” Wahab said.
“The RRS will continue to sustain intelligence-led operations and enforcement actions against criminal elements whose activities threaten public safety and disrupt the free movement of people and vehicles across the State,” he added.
The Lekki-Ajah corridor has repeatedly witnessed reports of harassment of motorists by suspected touts, prompting recurring enforcement actions by security agencies in the state.
