Seek for forgiveness, observe five pillars of Islam- LG boss urges Muslims in Ikorodu

CITIZENS COMPASS – Honourable Wasiu Adesina, Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State has advised Muslim Faithfulls to use the Ramadan period to seek for forgiveness and observe the five pillars of Islam.

Adesina gave the advice during the 4th Edition of the Annual Ramadan Lecture, organised by the IRADAT Family, held opposite Post office at Ita-elewa open space, Ikorodu.

Citizens Compass reports that the theme of lecture was “The Significance of Five Pillars of Islam”.

According to the chairman, following the five pillars of Islam and listening to sermon would educate residents not to go astray having attitude that would enable them to live in peace and harmony with people of other faith.

“This is the 4th edition of Ramadan Lecture in Ikorodu LG, with this we give all glory to Almighty Allah.

“This is a platform where the sermons and teachings of Islam will spread among the people of Ikorodu.

“It is also design to teach educate  people the five pillars of Islam so that they can learn more from the holy Quran,” he said.

The chairman advised Muslim faithful present at lecture to emulate Prophet Muhammad in words and obedient as well as to maintain their virtuous and holiness as done during the Ramadan and give Zakat to the needy.

He urged the gathering to pray for peace and unity in Nigeria and also for the President-Elect  Sen. Bola  Tinubu as well as the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for peaceful transition of power and prosperity for all Nigerians.

The guest lecturer, Dr Shakirudeen Abdul Rasak, Founder and Missioner, IRADAT centre of Nigeria urged Muslim to obey the instructions of Allah and promote  peace in the society they live.

He said Muslim faithful should do things with fear of God and  continue to pray for a better Nigeria having the believe that Ramadan has not ended.

“People should have the fear of God in their dealings, if the environment is good and peaceful, the country will also be peaceful and better for all of us,” he said.

Also speaking, the Leader of the council, Honourable Adebowale Ajayi, urged Muslims to hold on to their faith adding that what they sacrifice during Ramadan should be maintained.

Earlier, Mr Babatunde Rotinwa, former Lagos State Head of Service, he urged Muslim faithful either rich or poor to be imbibe the spirit of humility and believe the five pillars of Islam.

Also, Alhaja Taofikat Allynson, the Iyaloja of Ikorodu advised everybody to love themselves amd urged them to follow the teaches and learn from the lecture delivered as a true Islamic faithful.
