Students, teachers escape death as building collapses in Lagos 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— It was a narrow escape on Monday, for students, teachers and residents as a building housing a school collapsed in the Ogba area of Lagos State.

The collapse occurred at about Noon at 11 Adudatu Street, behind County Hospital, Aguda.

The four-storey building housed Yemco Nursery, Primary and Comprehensive College, whose students and teachers escaped unhurt.

No life was lost.

An X user @Eromosele6 tweeted, “Students and teachers of a school in the Ogba area, on Monday, narrowly escaped death after a four-storey building housing the institution collapsed minutes after they evacuated the structure.”

Details of the collapse could not be established.

At press time, there was no official statement from the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

The collapse occurred in a few months after the collapse of a school building in the Odo-Kekere, Ikorodu Division in Lagos.
