Ward C3 councillor organises Ramadan lecture in Igbogbo/Baiyeku, Lagos 

CITIZENS COMPASS – THE Councillor representing Ward C3, (Baiyeku, Ofin/Oreta) and Council Leader, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Alimi Nurudeen, has organised 2023 Ramadan lecture in his constituent.

The lecture titled, ‘’Good governance as panacea for growth and development: Islamic perspective,’’ had its venue as Baale’s palace, Seyi Bus-stop, Ofin Ile on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

In attendance were the Baale of Ofin Ile, Chief Monsuru Alimi, Baale of Baiyeku Chief Saheed Ajibode and Baale of Oreta, Chief Biliamini Adejupe as Royal Fathers of the Day.

The lecture centered on five different points vis a vis access to good roads, security of lives and properties, access to employment, freedom of worship and humanity in general.

Speaking at the event, the guest lecturer, Imam Abdul Fatai Idrees harped on importance of good governance as it relates to Islam.

He charged Nigerians to demonstrate good conduct in their day to day activities as lack of this could have negative impact on good governance.

The guest lecturer urged participants to conduct themselves peacefully saying this can move the hand of Almighty Allah to bless a nation. Good governance is obedience to the rule of law,’’ he said

The Imam described good governance as way of living in togetherness, peace, safety of lives and property among others, ‘’good governance teaches us to live in peace, forgiveness and secure lives and property among all,’’ said idrees.

According to him, good governance and human rights have similarities in the sense that one must not trample on another in the quest for survival, ‘’good governance is the right to live peaceably, own property and secure it, forgive one another and seek progress of our domain. We must exhibit good character wherever we find ourselves.

‘’Good governance must positively influence human rights, rightful teaching and thinking, influencing young ones in positive ways, right to religion, the right to live, own property, all these put together will positively influence the community while failure will do otherwise.


  • Islam teaches us to develop good relationships with others and avoid abuse of human rights as stated in the Holy Book of Quran.’’

He added.

Spiritual fathers of the day were Shaykh, Imam, Isa Baloubi, grand chief Imam of Offin/Chairman, Offin Ile Muslim community, Imam Tijani Onilewura, Grand Chief imam, Oreta and Imam Tajudeen Disu, Grand Chief Imam, Baiyeku.
