CITIZENS COMPASS —A housewife on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, dumped her two months old baby identified as Aishat, at a mechanic shop located in Ajala Market, near Abule-Egba area of Lagos State.

The circumstances leading to the abandonment could not be ascertained but it was gathered that the woman at about 5a.m, wrapped her only child with a cloth and dumped her at the workplace of her husband, Akeem Shittu who is an auto technician.

It was learned that at about 7a.m, residents and sympathisers were attracted to  the cries of the baby and they went to the mechanic shop only to see the baby where she was abandoned.

One of the sympathisers simply identified as Aishat, told our correspondent that as the sympathisers were thinking about the next line of action, information reached the baby’s father that a baby had been dumped at his workplace.

“Not quite long, the baby’s mother called him to inform him that their only baby had been dumped at his workplace. “

Akeem was said to have rushed to the scene for details and found sympathisers around the baby.

Citizens Compass gathered that Aishat’s mother had taken permission from her husband to visit her mother who lives in Abule-Egba area unknown to him of the ulterior motive.

Our Correspondent learned that Police from Ebenezer Division was invited into the matter and the baby’s mother was invited.

As at the time of filing this report, sympathisers have handed the baby to the Police.

When Akeem was contacted on phone, he refused to comment about the matter and thereafter banged his phone on our correspondent .
