Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho arrives Nigeria

CITIZENS COMPASS —Two years after his detention in the Benin Republic, the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria.

The purpose of the trip is for the burial of his mother, who died in October 2024.

Igboho left Nigeria in 2021after he was declared wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS).

He was to travel to Germany through Benin alongside his wife but was apprehended before boarding.

DSS had invaded his home in the Soka area of Oyo State over alleged terrorism charges.

He, however, regained his freedom recently after two years in a Beniese prison.

A statement by Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed that the Yoruba Nation activist was in the country for his mother’s burial.

Koiki disclosed this in a terse statement accompanied by a video via his X page on Thursday.

He wrote: “I can confirm that Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, is currently on his way to Igboho Town for the final burial of his mother MRS S.A. ADEYEMO.
