CITIZENS COMPASS— Activities marking the 100 days in office of Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), the Chairman of Ikeja Local Government continued on Tuesday, with the commissioning of Aiyemojuba Street in Onipetesi area.

This is just as AKOD promised to cite a pedestrian bridge in Onipetesi to curb pedestrian accidents in the area.

Citizens Compass reported that the Council Chairman yesterday, commenced activities marking his 100 days in office with impactful and historic events.

Recall that the Day One of the event showcased youth leadership, educational development, healthcare support, and infrastructural advancement.

Citizens Compass reported that a major highlight of the day was the celebration of the One-Day Chairman, One-Day Vice Chairman, and One-Day Leader of the House, an unprecedented initiative in Nigeria’s local government system.

Citizens Compass reports that the activities continued on Tuesday with the commissioning of Aiyemojuba Street and celebration of some retirees at the council secretariat.

The epoch-making event played host to a Nollywood artiste, Saheed Balogun and other personalities.

Delivering his welcome address in Onipetesi, the councillor representing the area, Hon Saburi Obadeyi, specifically thanked the council chairman for his hard work and implored him not to relent in his deeds.

Obadeyi urged AKOD to fix more roads in his constituency.

In his address, Comrade Dauda said the event was a clear testament to his collective commitment to the growth and development of Ikeja.

Also, he said it forms an important part of the activities marking the 100 days in office.

According to AKOD: “When we assumed office a few months ago, we made a deliberate and sincere promise to elevate the standard of local governance, to change the narrative, and to ensure that basic infrastructure long neglected in many communities receives the urgent attention it deserves. Our I.K.E.J.A AGENDA, which is the master blueprint of this administration, places strong emphasis on improving the quality of life of our people through strategic investments in roads, education, health, and community welfare.

The commissioning of Aiyemojuba Street is more than the completion of a road project, it is the fulfillment of a promise, a response to the yearnings of the people, and a symbol of our resolve to make Ikeja a model local government in Nigeria. For many years, this community has needed a durable, motorable road to ease movement, boost economic activity, and provide relief to residents. Today, we are proud to say that this need has been met.

This road has been constructed with quality, durability, and long-term community benefit in mind. It will ease access for motorists, enhance security, raise property value, and improve the overall living experience for residents of Onipetesi and its surroundings. And I want to assure you, this is just the beginning.

Our administration is committed to commissioning more projects across all wards. From the rehabilitation of schools, to medical interventions for our elders, to youth empowerment initiatives, to infrastructural renewal, we will continue to deliver results that speak for themselves. The Better Days we promised are already here, and together, we will build an Ikeja we can all be proud of.

Let me specially appreciate our councillors, our management team led by the Council Manager, community leaders, and hardworking staff for their support and input in making this project a reality. I also thank the residents of Aiyemojuba Street for their patience, cooperation, and belief in this administration.

To the people of Onipetesi and the entire Ikeja Local Government, I reaffirm today that we will not relent. We will continue to think differently, work diligently, and deliver boldly.”
