CITIZENS COMPASS— A suspect, Godwin Mngumi, has narrated his alleged involvement in the murder of a retired High Court Judge in Asaba, Delta State, Justice Ifeoma Okogwu.
Until the gruesome murder, the 25-year-old suspect served as a night guard at the Judge’s residence.
He was arrested in Anambra State on December 6, 2025, following a tip-off.
Mngumi disclosed this in his confessional statement with the Police.
According to him, he invited his friend, one Nnaji Obalum and one other suspect at large over to the house where they carried out the dastardly act together.
However, the Police intensified efforts to unravel the murder and this led to the arrests.
Confirming the arrests to Citizens Compass on Tuesday, spokesperson, Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, said another suspect, Nnaji Obalum, has been arrested in the course of investigations while the manhunt for the third suspect was ongoing.
Edafe said the Command recovered the mobile phone of the late retired justice during the operation carried out by the operative of homicide section of State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
$Delta State Police Command acting on intelligence has arrested one Godwin Mngumi aged 25 years, the security guard who allegedly murdered Justice Ifeoma Okogwu (Rtd) in Anambra State and the phone of the late rtd justice has also been recovered from him.
“He confessed that he invited his friend, one Nnaji Obalum and one other suspect at large over to the house where they carried out the dastardly act together. Nnaji Obalum has also been arrested while the manhunt for the third suspect is ongoing.”
Justice Okogwu’s body was recovered penultimate Sunday.
