19-year-old ex-convict nabbed while breaking into house

 

CITIZENS COMPASS— A 19-year-old ex-convict was on Wednesday, apprehended while breaking into a house in Matogun, Ogun State.

The ex-convict was said to have broken into the house of an elderly man whose child left for school in the early hours while his father was resting.

However, the ex-convict armed with a rod broke into the house oblivious that the owner of the house was around.

The incident occurred at about Noon.

Matogun is a settlement located within the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Nigeria.

Citizens Compass gathered that last year, the 19-year- old was prosecuted and jailed after he broke into a furniture company at Ago-Igbala area of Matogun.

Before he broke into the furniture company, he was said to be apprehended around Moses Obiwale street, Cananland Estate in Koye area.

He was said to be apprehended in several places including Gasline.

The suspect who returned from prison in January 2026 was apprehended on Wednesday around Koyeoke, via Olambe junction when the owner of the house he broke into raised the alarm that attracted neighbours.

An eyewitnesses’ accounts said he begged for leniency saying he was a product of a broken home.

According to him, his mother lives in Zaria, Kaduna State while his father lives in Ogun State.

A resident of Matogun, Mukaila Olowambe, told Citizens Compass that the suspect has been handed over to local security for investigations.

“He broke into a house at Koyeoke, via Olambe junction

but the landlord was around. He blew the alarm which attracted his neighbours and the boy was apprehended.

“He was holding a rod but the man shouted, neighbours came in and he was apprehended.

“We were surprised that it was the same boy who arrived from prison in January this year. He has been handed over to local security.”
