300 traders displaced as Police demolishes computer village POWA complex

CITIZENS COMPASS —No fewer than 300 traders were displaced  on Sunday, in Lagos following demolition of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Shopping Complex in the Computer Village, Ikeja. 
The Nigeria Police Force made good its promises of moving bulldozers to the site to demolish over 300 shops in the complex. 
Recall that had staged a peaceful protest over the planned demolition. 
The planned demolition had generated controversies from different corners. 
However, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun recently issued a statement claiming that the planned demolition is in good intention. 
The exercise took place in the early hours of Sunday with armed security operatives supervising the operation.
The Chairman, Computer Dealer Association, in Computer Village, Tayo Shittu, said the demolition began at about midnight. 
Some traders said four bulldozers manned by armed police officers were at the site of the demolition on Sunday morning.
They added that the exercise was completed before 9 a.m. 
As of Sunday morning, over 300 traders were displaced after the demolition.
