Another honour for Glo at ‘Africa’s Beacon of ICT’ award

CITIZENS COMPASS – FOR its great strides in the telecoms industry, Globacom, a top provider of telecoms solutions, has again, bagged the “Africa’s Beacon of ICT Excellence/Leadership Award.” ”

It was another triumphant moment on Saturday, May 27, 2023, in Lagos, when the award was presented at the 2023 Africa Beacon of ICT and Leadership Awards, which were held at the Oriental Hotels in Lagos and were attended by the nation’s top ICT executives, the company received this recognition for introducing innovations in the Nigerian telecom sector.

The Beacon of ICT Award, which was put in place over a decade ago to celebrate outstanding brands and the visions that birthed them, has become one of the most respected annual awards in the nation’s ICT industry.

Speaking at the event, Ken Nwogbo, Founder and CEO of Communication Week Media Limited, organisers of the BoICT Award, said Globacom won the award in view of its outstanding contributions to the development of the industry over the last twenty years, including the 3G and 4G technologies, Glo 1 submarine cable, as well as unique products and services.

He added that the awards were also put in place to celebrate individuals who have made outstanding contributions in commerce and industry as well as government officials whose policies and programmes have positively impacted on their jurisdictions.

The representatives of the company, Catherine Bomett, Director of Customer Care, Oladipo Olusanwo, Head of Gloworld Operation, and Obumneme Ikechebelu, from the Technical Department, accepted the award on behalf of Globacom.

The event was also witnessed by key players in the telecom sector, including the President of the Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Mr. Ikechukwu Nnamani, Director of Public Affairs, Nigeria Communication Commission, (NCC), Mr. Reuben Mouka, Regional Executive (West Africa), Africa Data Centre (ADC), Dr. Krishman Ranganath and Digital Architect Manager and representative of Nigerian Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Falilat Jimoh.​
