CITIZENS COMPASS– A video has surfaced online capturing the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, refusing to stand to greet the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, at a social function.
However, another video surfaced wherein the Alaafin was captured standing to greet the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The scene occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday, with the First Lady as the host.
In one of the videos, the Ooni of Ife was seen with his entourage arriving at the venue as he went straight to greet the Alaafin.
To the astonishment of many, the Alaafin’s chiefs respected the Ooni as they stood up to greet him but when it got to the Alaafin’s turn, he remained seated not minding that the Ooni was standing in front of him.
The Ooni applied maturity by exchanging pleasantries with the Alaafin before proceeding to his seat.
