CITIZENS COMPASS— Ayodele Adio,, a chairmanship aspirant of the Youth Party

(YP) for the July 12, 2025 local government election in Eti-Osa Local Government Area in Lagos State, has formally declared his intention to contest.

Adio made the declaration morning of Monday May 12, 2025, full of hopes and assurances that he will not only emerge as the party’s candidate but will also win at the general elections come July 12.

In his declaration address to friends, neighbours, brothers and sisters in the Eti-Osa council which is one of five local governments in Lagos Island Division of the state, Adio gingered electorates, old and young who may have lost confidence and trust in possibility of achieving free, fair and credible election in Lagos, not to lose hope.

“There Is Hope Yet For Eti Osa,” he expressed confidence, adding that, “This announcement today comes from a place of profound belief in what we can make this community become.”

He promised to build his campaign and future administration, if elected, on two cardinal pillars effective public financial accountability and services delivery.

Adio acknowledged the sharp minds, the entrepreneurial drive and the rich culture that thrives in every corner, from the bustling markets to the quiet residential streets of the council he seeks to govern, including the struggle.

“I see the roads that need fixing, the drains that overflow with the slightest rain, the heaps of waste that diminish our dignity and threaten our health. I see our young people hungry for opportunity, families worried about safety, and many of the vulnerable needing reliable care. We know, deeply and personally, the gap between the promise of Eti Osa and the reality of our daily lives.

“For too long, we have been told to manage our expectations. To accept that this is just how things are. To believe that the resources meant for our schools, our clinics, our security, our environment, can somehow vanish into thin air.

“This is not just about politics as usual. This is about our lives. This is about our children’s future. This is about whether we can trust that the money collected in our name will actually work for us.

“That is why I stand before you today, not with empty promises, but with a fierce belief in what is possible when good people decide they have had enough of the status quo. I stand here as your neighbour, a member of the Youth Party, ready to fight for the Eti Osa we all know is within reach.

“And so, Today, I announce my candidacy for the Chairman of Eti Osa Local Government Area in the July 2025 elections.”

On the first cardinal pillar of public financial accountability, he said, “Corruption, waste, and mismanagement pauperizes working families today and steal the future from our children. They are the concrete barriers to progress in our communities. I believe that every single naira generated or allocated to Eti Osa belongs to the people here. Not to politicians, not to contractors, but to YOU.

“Therefore, my commitment to you is this: I will open the books. I will ensure that public funds are spent transparently, wisely, and only on projects and services that directly benefit the people of this local government area,” he said urging to be trust.

“Trust me, this is not a complicated dream; it is achievable when leadership is honest and accountable to the people, not just to powerful interests. it requires integrity and a commitment to serve, not to steal.”

On the second cardinal pillar of effective public services, Ayodele Adio said, “This means that when you call for waste collection, the truck comes. It means our local primary healthcare centres are places of healing, not just waiting.

“It means working hand-in-hand with community leaders and security agencies to make our streets safer, so we can sleep soundly at night. It means fixing the drains before the floods come, maintaining our inner roads, and ensuring that the essential services you pay for are delivered with competence and consistency.

“The truth is that effective public service is not a luxury; it is the fundamental duty of local government. It is about competence meeting compassion to deliver tangible results that improve your daily existence.

“I know the challenges are immense. I know the forces we are up against are powerful. But I also know the power of a united community. I know the strength of people who are tired of the old ways and hungry for a new beginning.

“That is why this is not just another election; it is a choice about the future of Eti Osa. It is a choice between the politics of the past and a new approach, grounded in accountability, driven by service, and focused relentlessly on improving your life.

“I also know the cynicism that exists. Which is why I want to remind you that his campaign is not about the size of our party. It is about the size of our vision for Eti Osa. It is about competence over connection, service over self-interest, and accountability over impunity.”

Generally he urged, “I am asking for your trust, your support, and your vote. Let us build an Eti Osa where financial transparency is not a slogan but a reality, where public services are not a promise but a guarantee, and where every citizen feels the positive impact of their local government in their everyday lives.

“Let us prove that a different kind of politics is possible, right here in Eti Osa. A politics grounded in honesty, driven by service, and focused relentlessly on delivering results for you.Thank you, and God bless the people of Eti Osa and Lagos State,” he said.

The declaration ceremony was attended by party chieftains, supporter and many residents from across the council area,
