
One dead, three rescued as Another building collapses in Lagos
CITIZENS COMPASS– One person was recovered dead while three others were rescued on Sunday, at the scene of a collapsed building at Ishaga Road, opposite Central Mosque, Idi Araba, Mushin, Lagos State.
The storey building was under construction when it caved in at about 3:50 p.m.
The Coordinator, Lagos State Territorial District, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the collapse in his updates.
Similarly, the Director, Lagos Fire & Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident.
As at 8.18p.m, Farinloye said three people were rescued while one person was confirmed dead.
According to Adeseye, “A building under construction at the one-storey level suddenly collapsed at 96 Ishaga Road, opposite Idi Araba Central Mosque, Mushin, Lagos.
“The distress call was received at approximately 15:30 hours.
“Responding agencies included the Isolo Fire Station of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Lagos State Ambulance Service, and the Nigeria Police.
“Three adults male gas been rescued alive with varying degrees of injury. They were attended to at the scene before being transferred to the hospital for further treatment by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.
“Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
“The cause of the emergency is currently under investigation.”
