CITIZENS COMPASS—A car driver on Tuesday, reportedly dozed off behind the wheel as the car fell off Sapon bridge in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital and landed on a taxi.
The driver was said to be seriously injured after her Toyota Camry fell off the bridge.
The accident occurred in the morning resulting in fear among road users.
Videos from the scene captured sympathisers rallying round the injured woman.
The wreckage of the vehicles were captured in the video as people were seen asking questions.
No life was lost to the accident.
A man was sighted in the video giving an account of the accident.
The man claimed that he was driving behind the ill-fated car whose driver was perceived to have dozed off behind the wheel. “My vehicle was behind this car and I noticed that the driver was sleeping while driving before the accident occurred.”
Another male voice was heard speaking in Egba dialect, “Eleyi l’agbara o, Eleyi l’agbara o…(This is serious, this is serious…)
At press time, spokesperson, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi did not respond to calls and messages of Citizens Compass.
