Popularly activist backs El-Rufai
CITIZENS COMPASS—Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has stirred strong reactions online after a bold post on her X handle, where she described former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as having a “nuisance value” — a trait she says she is willing to put to political use.
According to Aisha Yesufu, “Nasir El Rufai has a nuisance value: his anger and vindictiveness, and you think I will not use that? Let me laugh in 3D!!!!!! You think Nation building is a romantic affair? I am okay with looking bad while you look good.”
The comment by Aisha Yesufu comes at a time when El-Rufai and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, are reportedly collaborating under the emerging ADC-led coalition ahead of 2027. The same coalition appears to be welcoming former critics and unlikely allies — a move that has sparked questions of integrity and ideology.
Many online users didn’t hold back in expressing their views.
@justkency wrote: “The cash out queen is already at work. She is now trying to launder the images of the same politicians she called out for criminality. Chai! Politics and greed have a way of making people appear stupid.”
@JesusNotGod_ reacted: “The person being used thinks she’s in a position to use others.”
@Adebayo_Faboro accused her of lacking genuine intentions: “This is why I believe most of you don’t genuinely have Nigeria’s best interests at heart… it’s all about power for you, and you’ll never achieve it.”
@Sarki. @Waspapping_ went further with harsh criticism: “Wallahi you’re a foolish woman for saying El-Rufai has nuisance value. What have you even done in politics or anywhere else apart from making noise on Twitter?”
