…. AI Ray-Ban eyeglasses returned

Sets for court

CITIZENS COMPASS—Former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore,on Tuesday, disclosed why he was recently arrested and detained by the Nigeria Police.

The human rights activist re-echoed his commitment to fight for the cause of both the retired and serving policemen in Nigeria.

Sowore released a video to butres his points shortly after honouring another invitation from the Force Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, Abuja.

Citizens Compass reported that Sowore was recently detained by the Police when he visited the headquarters.

He was released within 48 hours after he suffered a broken arm in the detention.

Shortly after he honoured the Police invite on Tuesday, he addressed some human rights activists that accompanied him to the Police.

The Convener of #RevolutionNow protest said the Force has returned his AI Ray-Ban eyeglasses to him.

A video of the address monitored by Citizens Compass said:

“I just came out of another invitation by the Police. By the virtue of the struggle that we made today, I have been able to recover my AI Ray-Ban eyeglasses. They admitted that nobody actually stole the glasses and said they had recovered them. We expect them to prosecute the thief.

They also served us amended charges and said we will be in court on Thursday.

I will be happy to go to court, we have made it very clear that there is no backing out or going back.

They presented before us the different petitions that we supported the retired and serving policemen to have a better working condition and, I admitted this on camera.

They said that I said pensioners should be taken care of and I said yes. They accused me of saying that policemen should receive a minimum of N300,00 and N500,000 and I said yes.

They said I told policemen that they have a once in a lifetime opportunity to exit the service and I said yes.

They said don’t I think this could have led to mutiny and I responded that we had done the protest and there was nothing like mutiny.

We will keep encouraging policemen not to accept nothing but the best.

At the end of the day, they asked me to leave but I requested that they return my stolen glasses which they did.

I am not sure that these is my AI Ray-Ban eyeglasses

glasses that were stolen but I will examine it well and if it is not the one, I will return it.

This would not stop us from hunting the guy that stole the glasses.

We promised our retired policemen that their pension and gratuity that were stolen from them will be returned the same way my AI Ray-Ban eyeglasses were returned.

Regardless of the bad name the Police have, we will keep fighting for them because it is the institution that we care about, not the character in it. “

The video was accompanied by a message which reads, “Today, I honored yet another invitation to the Nigeria Police Force Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, where I was served with a three-count charge by police investigators.

“After my attorneys and I were shown a court date for Thursday’s arraignment, the police team immediately began another round of interrogation.

“This time, they claimed the investigation was linked to my role in the #PoliceProtest, accusing me of inciting ‘mutiny’ by offering to lead serving and retired police officers in their quest for better conditions of service and pension.

“They went further, introducing a completely baseless and absurd allegation that I have “relationships with terrorists” without offering a shred of proof.

“In the midst of this, they demanded that I write another statement. I immediately declined.

“All the while, a police cameraman was on standby, recording every moment.

When the questioning ended, I once again demanded the return of my stolen @ray_ban meta AI glasses stolen during the July 21st #PoliceProtest. This time, they obliged and returned them to me.

“They cannot break our resolve, nor derail our movement for a free, just, and democratic Nigeria.

#RevolutionNow.’
