Group writes Tinubu over insecurity, demands concerted efforts

CITIZENS COMPASS—The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) yesterday, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to arrest the ravaging insecurity across the country, stressing that the situation is becoming hopeless and can lead to forlorn hope that may spike disillusionment in the Nigerian project

CAIDOV made the call in an open letter to the president signed by its Executive Director,Comrade Gbenga Soloki.

He said that the first assignment of any government should be the protection of people and property.

Soloki disclosed that though the group is not in anyway political, yet we are heavily “objectively partisan” in the defense of the Nigerian people, society and the vulnerable”

The letter was titled, “Open Letter To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on the insecurity traps and 2027 General Elections,”

It reads, “The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) is a registered non-profit making, non-partisan, non – violent organization. We are totally committed to crusade against social injustice and all forms of retrogressive violence on people, society and humanity. The Centre, along with Associates in the civic trenches space, wishes to call for urgent as well as effective steps to stop the soaring spate of insecurities searing through our nation.

“Mr. President, though our Centre is non-political, yet, we are heavily “Objectively Partisan” in the defence of our people, society and the vulnerable. We do not need the services of any seer to discern that the escalating insecurities have direct connections with worsening socio – economic realities and political instabilities.

“Sir, your security team, headed by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, must display requisite will and actions to contain, if not eliminate insecurities as the 2027 General Elections draw close.

“We need not over emphasize that Section 14b of the extant Constitution of the Federal Republic says that the security and welfare of the people are the primary responsibilities of the state.

The crux of the matter

“The recent gruesome murder of some vigilantes in the Oke Odo – Sabe area of Kwara State by members of the Mamuda terrorist group, a splinter faction of Boko Haram, tells grave tales on the challenges of insecurity in the country. We have authoritative records that this attack is not an isolated event, rather, it is part of a grade design by adversarial global players and unpatriotic, national partners to destroy Nigeria in order to explore our abundant natural resources.

“The driving rationale for these killings is to exercise control over illegal mining of Tourmaline and Lithium, just like the case in the North East by Boko Haram.

“Mr. President sir, a court in far away Saudi Arabia has once tried and convicted a terrorist who fingered a Nigerian sponsor.

“Other global security institutions and reputable, national conscientious bodies have equally painted powerful backers, sponsors and financiers of banditry, kidnappings, terrorism through money laundering, drug trafficking and other illicit transactions in the country.

“As a matter of fact, some neighbouring countries such as Burkina-Faso, Niger Republic and Mali have threatened to expose Nigerians that sponsor terrorism in the continent.

“Mr. President sir, those behind the escalating security challenges in the country are not ghosts, they are human beings! Give directives to all security agencies to increase their efforts of apprehending the perpetrators of these evil acts. We need a striking example of scientific investigation, arrest, prosecution and sentencing, if not execution of all those involved in the dastardly network responsible for the security challenges confronting our great country.

“Mr. President, insecurity has untold, and fatal consequences on the means of livelihood of an average, toiling citizen. If action is not manifestly seen to be taken, forlorn hope would spike disillusionment in the Nigerian project. No doubt, this will provoke massive apathy amongst the populace. They shall inevitably stop discharging their civic duties and responsibilities.

A stitch in time, saves nine or even Lives !!!!”
