Igbogbo-Baiyeku set for people-oriented development as Aroyewun hosts 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum
CITIZENS COMPASS— The Council Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Thursday, promised commitment to inclusive governance and people-oriented development in the area.
He disclosed this while speaking at the 2026 Budget Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum at the Council Secretariat.
Aroyewun emphasised that this year’s budget preparation is guided by the theme, “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity,” which underscores the administration’s resolve to ensure that every community, demographic group, and economic sector benefit from government planning and resource allocation.
According to him, the theme reflects a deliberate commitment to collective growth, one where development is not limited to a few, but felt across all wards, markets, institutions, and households within the LCDA.
The Chairman presented a detailed report of achievements recorded across critical sectors within the first three months of his administration, reaffirming his promise to restore and elevate the glory of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
On works and infrastructure, he promised reconstruction of Oliwo Amoju street, Ilemere–Oshorun Road facilitated by Member, representing Ikorodu Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson, Phase II of Agunfoye Road construction facilitated by the Senator representing Lagos-East, Tokunbo Abiru and rehabilitation intervention at Ojubode Junction.
Others are Lajo community’s dilapidated link bridge and culvert placement at Pineapple Estate, desilting works along Kola Ogunkoya Street and Oliwo Amoju and Olayinka Street, Igbogbo.
On education, he promised the initiation of a new primary school: Zumratul Islamiyyah Primary School, Igbogbo, reconstruction of a block of six classrooms equipped with new furniture and marker boards at Methodist Primary School, construction of six modern toilet units at Methodist Primary School and introduction of the 2025 LCDA Spelling Bee Competition.
In the area of health, Aroyewun promised free medical outreach for staff and community members, implementation of the National Immunisation Plus Day campaign, renovation and upgrade of Ibeshe Primary Health Centre
Reconstruction and expansion of Baiyeku Primary Health Centre(PHC).
On security, he promised the construction of a new Area Office for the Joint Task Force (JTF) at Baiyeku PHC, support for Igbe-Oloja Police Post and ongoing inspection of Elepe Smart Police Station facilitated by Babajimi Benson.
On staff welfare, he noted that there would be monthly celebration of staff birthdays,
free healthcare services for all council staff and sponsorship of staff for training and seminars within and outside the state.
The youths were not left out as he outlined mentorship programmes including “Mentorship with HOA”,
Economic Youth Summit in partnership with Igbogbo Youth Forum, ICT-driven initiatives and other empowerment schemes and partnership with Rotary Centre to empower youths.
Aroyewun noted that many of these projects were completed and commissioned within his first 100 days, demonstrating the administration’s resolve to deliver rapid developmental impact across the LCDA.
Representatives from the Market Men & Women Association, CDC, CAN, Muslim community, youth bodies, and ward leaders presented their areas of concern and requested targeted interventions in infrastructure, security, social welfare, economic empowerment, and market regulation.
The Chairman assured them that all submissions would be carefully reviewed and integrated into the final fiscal plan for 2026, in line with the administration’s vision of a “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity.”
Aroyewun appealed to residents, business owners, and community organisations to support government efforts through prompt payment of taxes, rates, and levies, stressing that such compliance is fundamental to sustained community development.
“Our doors remain open. We remain committed to addressing concerns fairly and ensuring that public resources are used transparently for the collective progress of Igbogbo/Baiyeku,” he added.
Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, a revered statesman and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), who was present at the event, expressed profound appreciation to all past and present political office holders whose collective efforts have contributed significantly to the growth and development of the community. He commended their dedication, sacrifices, and commitment to public service, noting that each administration played a vital role in shaping the progress enjoyed today. He further urged everyone to remain truthful, steadfast, and committed to the values that continue to strengthen the community.
The Chairman expressed profound appreciation to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, APC apex leaders, party chieftains, the legislative council, management staff, and the entire workforce of the LCDA for their continuous support in driving the administration’s developmental agenda.
