CITIZENS COMPASS—A few days ago, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, slashing the ex-depot rate from N828 to N699 per litre.

With the downward review, some marketers across the federation have been put on their toes as the price of petrol varies from one station to another.

Lagos State is not exempt from this, as petrol users now purchase the product at varying prices, prompting many to travel long distances in their quest to obtain the commodity at affordable prices.

In the course of this story, Citizens Compass interacted with some of these users, who shared their experiences of sourcing petrol.

On Wednesday, the interaction brought about mixed feelings as some lamented how some gas stations were feeding fat on innocent users through adjustment of pumps, while some adopted other methods to rip off the users.

In the midst of this, Citizens Compass interacted with some of the users, particularly in Lagos State, to know where petrol was sold at affordable prices.

Mr Dotun Onadipe said he bought a litre of petrol at N739 at the MRS station, Onipetesi.

Another user, Madam Olabayo Onanuga told Citizens Compass of how Mobil Filing Station on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, was selling the product at ₦825 per litre.

She said the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on the same Awolowo Road was selling the product at ₦840 per litre while Total Filling Station in the axis sold the product at ₦880 per litre.

A resident of Ikorodu, Mr Asimiyu Adusa, said last night, she bought petrol at N739 per litre at MRS inward Ogolonto, while his friend bought the product at a similar price at MRS, Oba Akran.

Another resident of Ikorodu, Mr Ayeni Olawake, said he observed that two days ago, gas stations around Isawo-Agric dispensed the product at N740 per litre, only for them to revert to N820 on Wednesday.

While residents were lamenting the N820 price per litre of PMS, a gas station along Igbolomu Road off Isawo Road, KAYLAD, was seen dispensing the product at N920.

He said a gas station along Ikorodu Road, Bio Keft, was dispensing petrol at ₦740 while MRS at Majidun sold it at ₦739.9 per litre.

Madam Kolade Akinola said as of Wednesday, some branches of Mobil gas station dispensed the product at ₦825 per litre, AP along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, was selling at-₦884.90 per litre while MRS at Alapere was seen selling petrol at ₦739 per litre.

Amidst the zigzag prices of lPMS in Nigeria, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, (NMDPRA) Farouk Ahmed, has resigned.

Similarly, his counterpart at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Gbenga Komolafe, has stepped down.
