CITIZENS COMPASS— The Olisa of Ijebu-Ode, Rasheed Adeoye Adesanya, is currently facing investigations following an invitation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Ogun State.

Adesanya is expected to honour the invite tomorrow, Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., in connection with an alleged bribery and financial inducement over the vacant stool of Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland in the State.

An invitation letter signed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gbenga Adeoye, said the invite was part of a fact-finding process by the Nigeria Police Force.

The statement buttressed his point from the Nigerian Constitution.

The letter dated February 3, 2026 reads,“The State Criminal Investigation Department Eleweran, Abeokuta is investigating a case of Bribery and Financial Inducement, in which there is a need to obtain some clarifications from you. You are therefore kindly requested to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran Abeokuta, Ogun State on Thursday 5th February, 2026 by 1000hrs for an interview with the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation “This is a fact-finding invitation, pursuant to the investigative powers conferred on the Nigeria Police by the combined provisions of Section 214 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended)and Section 4(a) of the Police Act 2020. Aside from the suspension, some concerned citizens have alleged the kingmakers of collecting money, vehicles and other gifts from some candidates.

On the other hand, the kingmakers have accused the state government of an attempt to impose its anointed candidate, a situation they considered to be detrimental to the Customary Law of the State.

Citizens Compass reported that the Fusengbuwa Ruling House has submitted the list of 95 qualified candidates to the kingmakers.

Recall that in a chat with Citizens Compass, some elders in Ijebu-Ode said the repercussions would be massive should there be an imposition of candidates.
