CITIZENS COMPASS— Apapa Local Government in Lagos State, on Friday, empowered 300 indigent citizens as each beneficiary went home with N100,000 cash.
The Council popularly known as Port City Council, said it was targeting
4,000 beneficiaries in its empowerment programme.
Apapa Local Government is under the leadership of Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo.
The empowerment was held at the council secretariat.
Speaking, Senbanjo appreciated the party for giving her the privilege to empower her constituents.
She implored Lagosians to vote for all APC candidates at the 2027 elections.
She said another batch of 300 beneficiaries would be empowered next week.
According to her, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made it possible for me to empower my people. I implore everybody to campaign and vote for all APC candidates in the next elections”
She urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money.
Present at the event was the Senator representing Lagos Central, Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni, who donated the sum of N2.5m towards the programme.
Eshilokun further expressed how grateful he was for the community and the platform.
He congratulated the Chairman for a job well done and encouraged her to do more for the people of Apapa.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked the council for the programme.
A beneficiary, Chidinma Vincent popularly known as Mama Ibeji,
said she would use the money to stock her house with food stuff, school items and other useful items for her children.
While thanking the Chairman for a job well done, she said, “I thank the chairman from the bottom of my heart.”
Another beneficiary, Akangbere Rukayat Iyabo, said she would buy her work tools with the money.
An officer with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA),
Fatai Abdul Rahman, said he would expend the money on food stuff and medications.
Some other beneficiaries, Afusat Adebayo, Bobby Ugochukwu Ojebu, Paul Silas and Usmaru Rufai promised to use the money to pay house rent, medical bills and business.
They prayed for the chairman for a successful tenure.
Senbanjo is in her second term under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
