CITIZENS COMPASS— The efforts of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), popularly known as Neighborhood Watch, Ikorodu West, have recorded a boost following the arrest of a suspected suicide bomber found in possession of a suspected explosive grenade.

Saved for the proactiveness and intelligence gathering of LNSC, thousands of Ikorodu residents would have been victims of suspected suicide bombing.

The incident occurred on Saturday, March 21, 2026, during the commissioning of an ultra-modern motor park by the state government.

According to eyewitness accounts, attendees of the commissioning were in high spirits as popular Fuji maestro Wasiu Alabi, popularly known as Pasuma, was on the bandstand at about 6:50 p.m.

Speaking with Citizens Compass on Monday, March 23, 2026, an eyewitness, Bejide Adeoti, said the suspect alongside his exhibit was apprehended by officials of LSNC and subsequently handed over to the troops of Operation MESA.

According to Adeoti, “The atmosphere was charged and Alabi Pasuma was on stage at about 6:50p.m when the suspect was apprehended.

“It was at the commissioning of the Agric park on Saturday. As we later learnt, Neighborhood Watch in the area got an intelligence report and instructed its members to be on alert.

“At about 6:50 p.m.m, I noticed that one of them grabbed a man and held him tightly. Other LNSC members at the venue moved closer to assist their colleague and that was when it dawned on everyone that the suspect was a suicide bomber and many of us escaped from the venue.

“I later gathered that the suspect was handed over to Operation MESA.’

Another eyewitness simply identified as Elder Kukoyi described the scene as a tug of war. “It was a tug of war between Neighborhood Watch and the suspect before he was overpowered and handed over to OP Mesa.

“The suspected suicide bomber was found with an explosive grenade at the Agric bus stop, very close to the Newly International Agric Motor Park during the Commissioning ceremony where Pasuma was on stage at about 6:50pm on Saturday.

Thank God that the suspect was overpowered as Neighborhood Watch collected the exhibit from him and handed him over to Opmesa

“The singer, his fans, and many attendees hurriedly ran for their dear lives.”

Citizens Compass reports that upon interrogation, the suspect who gave his name as Adeyinka Adebayo, a native of Osun State, is currently in custody as normalcy later returned to the axis as the officials assured residents of their safety.

Similarly, a counter-insurgency and security expert, Zagazola Makama, shared the information on his official X Handle formerly known as Twitter.

With the laudable achievement, residents of Isawo, Agric, Ori-Okuta, Ola-Inukan, Owutu, and Ologunebi among others have called on the state government to equip members of the LNSC to enable them discharge their duties as at when due.
