CITIZENS COMPASS— In strict compliance with directives from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) National Headquarters, Abuja, the Ogun State Sector Command has commenced a special enforcement exercise code-named “OPERATION GUDUMA” (Strategic Intervention Patrol Operation).
The operation, supervised by Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) JO Asaolu, who was assigned by the Corps Marshal to oversee the special intervention, is being carried out in collaboration with the Ogun State Sector Commander, RS2.2, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.
The special operation is scheduled to run from May 18 to 22nd May 2026 across strategic corridors and major highways within Ogun State.
As the lead agency responsible for road traffic management and safety administration in Nigeria, the FRSC remains committed to reducing road traffic crashes, promoting safer road use, and ensuring strict compliance with vehicle registration and identification regulations nationwide.
Operation Guduma is specifically designed to eliminate the use of illegal and counterfeit number plates while also addressing the persistent menace of overloading and unsafe haulage practices, which continue to contribute significantly to fatal road crashes on Nigerian roads.
The Command stated that enforcement teams deployed for the operation will strictly monitor and prosecute offenders involved in the following violations:
*Use of Fake Diplomatic Number Plates*
(This enforcement targets counterfeit diplomatic plates and not legitimately issued but faded plates).
Overloading Violations
(Carrying passengers or goods beyond approved capacity).
Dangerous Mix-Loading
(Conveying passengers and goods simultaneously in the same vehicle in a hazardous manner).
Movement of unlatched containers
(Failure to properly secure containers with safety twists and locking mechanisms).
Speaking on the operation, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, called on motorists, transport operators, fleet managers, and all road users across Ogun State to comply fully with traffic regulations during and beyond the enforcement period.
He emphasised that the Command maintains zero tolerance for traffic violations that endanger lives and property, stressing that the safety of all road users remains the top priority of the Corps.
The Sector Commander further assured members of the public that the operation would be conducted professionally, fairly, and in accordance with established FRSC operational procedures.
