CITIZENS COMPASS—Amidst rising insecurity in some parts of Nigeria, the Yoruba Indigenes’ Foundation (YIF) Worldwide, on Wednesday, said state policing is the fastest way to curb the menace, calling on the southwest governors to activate this in their respective states.

YIF lauded the efforts of the House of Representatives for expressing readiness to pass the State Police Bill tomorrow, Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Presidential, Yoruba Indigenes’ Foundation (YIF) Worldwide, Dr Olumide Aderibole Philip, said this in a chat with Citizens Compass.

Aderibole seized the occasion to kick against the activities of commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada across the Southwest zone.

He stated that some bandits could easily hide under the guise of Okada operation to perpetrate their activities.

According to Aderibole: The Yoruba Indigenes Foundation (YIF) Worldwide appeals to all Southwest governors to ban the activities of commercial motorcycles popularly known as Okada.

We call on stakeholders to monitor the influx of non-Yoruba extraditions into the Southwest as this was instrumental to a lot of crimes within the land.

We seize this opportunity to speak on behalf of all Yoruba sons and daughters to tell the governors to be proactive in this regard.

This appeal became necessary due to the security challenges staring Yorubaland in the face.

Examples are the recent happenings in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, that of Ekiti, Ondo, Osun, Lagos, and the most recent in Ogun.

These call for serious warnings to Yoruba governors.

YIF lauds the Council Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division in Lagos State, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, for ordering the database of non-Nigerians within his jurisdiction as a way of curbing security challenges in the area.

We hereby call for the implementation of state policing being the fastest solution against insecurity in Yorubaland.

We urge lawmakers to expedite the enactment of the State Police Bill to ensure adequate security for the nation.
