CITIZENS COMPASS—Many people were feared trapped on Monday,
when.a two-storey building reportedly collapsed at Baale Street, Ajuwon/Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Ajuwon/Akute is a border town between Lagos and Ogun States.
The collapse sent panic to residents due to its unusual nature.
A TikTok user,Sanitarian Akinola Oluwaranti, in a video captured the remains of the building with a background voice alerting people that many occupants of the building were trapped.
The video was captioned, “Urgent building collapse with persons trapped,”
The video explained thus, “A storey building has just collapsed and sunk at the address below, with people currently trapped inside.
Location: Baale Road, Ajuwon, Ifo LGA, Ogun State.
We urgently request the immediate intervention of all relevant government emergency response agencies.
Preliminary information indicates that occupants are currently trapped beneath the rubble.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Anthony, said only one male occupant managed to escape before the building became completely inaccessible.
“Only one man came out of the building. He said his wife and children are still trapped inside” Anthony said.
At press time, neither the Ogun State Government nor emergency management agencies have confirmed the number of victims or disclosed whether a coordinated rescue effort had begun.
