…Promises scholarships to PhD level
…Jimi Benson promises empowerment

CITIZENS COMPASS— During his 2025 campaign, he told his constituents that he would not make empty promises if voted into office as the Council Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (IBLCDA), Ikorodu Division, Lagos State.
True to his words, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA) stood by his promises and within a space of one year, the constituents had alot to talk about interms of laudable achievements particularly in the area of infrastructure and security.
Some of his achievements includes: Rehabilitation of Baiyeku Primary Health Center in Ward C3, unveiling and upgrading of Ibeshe Primary Health Center in Ward C4, reconstructed block of six classrooms at Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo (Ward C1) with six units of modern toilets, distribution of food packs and cash transfer palliatives to some residents just as he actively participate in the monthly sanitation exercises across various wards.
Monday July 27, 2026, was not an exception with the ground breaking of the new Smart Primary school at Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School, Igbogbo.
While welcoming attendees to the event, he mentioned the distance the pupils of the community travel to attend primary schools. He said this would be the first primary school within the vicinity and it will be a Smart one.
Aroyewun put the project time frame at two years saying there had been discussions about scholarships at all levels to PhD level which would be on merit only. He said, “This Apex council is making sure education is stress free for those who are willing. To encourage them, we have in place scholarships from the primary level to PhD level and all these will soon come to limelight.”
Also speaking, a Member, Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency Lagos State, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, said the project was not only for the pupils as the school would attract various stages of empowerment.
According to Benson, “We shouldn’t see this project as just for the pupils because many people, particularly artisans will get empowered with the building project; from the bricklayers, welders to the technicians that will work on the smart school.
“It is not just the building but something that will create employment opportunities for the people of the community.”
Also addressing the attendees was a Member, Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu 111, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), who said that the current administration is not handling education with kids’ gloves, urging residents to give their support where necessary.
He said the party leaders would not deprive residents of their access to education. “One thing this administration will take very seriously is education as every member of the community has the right to education and the council of leaders won’t deny them the opportunity.”

including His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali, Emugoriade 1, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom; His Royal Majesty, Oba Abayomi
Richard Ogunsanya, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe Kingdom, and Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, the Senator representing Lagos-East Senatorial District, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, among others.
