CITIZENS COMPASS— The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday, ordered the remand of Sanusi Dankaka at Kuje Correctional Centre for allegedly threatening to publish nude videos and photographs of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf on Facebook.

Justice Salim Ibrahim issued the order after the Department of State Services (DSS), arraigned Dankaka on two counts of alleged cybercrime. The defendant pleaded not guilty to both charges.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the DSS filed the case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/699/2026, on October 22, accusing Dankaka of committing the alleged offences in October 2026.

In the first count, the prosecution alleged that Dankaka and other persons still at large used his Facebook account, Sanusi Dankaka Yahaya, to threaten to release the governor’s alleged nude videos and photographs.

The DSS told the court that the publication was false and claimed that the defendant intended to cause annoyance, inconvenience, insult and injury to the governor.

The prosecution said the alleged acts violated Section 27(1)(6) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, as amended, and were punishable under Section 24(1) of the same law.

When the case came, DSS counsel Yusuf Afegbua, told the court that the matter was scheduled for the hearing.

Dankaka’s lawyer, Kauna Penzin, also informed the court that she was ready for the hearing.

After the charges were read to him, Dankaka denied the allegations.

Afegbua subsequently asked the court to fix a date for trial and requested an order remanding the defendant at Kuje Correctional Centre. The defence counsel did not oppose the application.

Justice Ibrahim adjourned the case until December 7 for trial and ordered that Dankaka remain in custody.
