CITIZENS COMPASS— Suspected kidnappers have reportedly beheaded Robert Olorode, a member of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, while attempting to secure the release of his younger brother, Elijah Okeleye.
The incident reportedly occurred in Kajola Local Government Area of the State on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Okeleye, a farmer is a resident of Afija’s Compound in Ilaji-Oke.
According to reports, he was abducted on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, while returning from his farm in Saaji-daada, within the same local government area.
The kidnappers reportedly initially demanded ₦15 million for his release, but the amount was later reduced to ₦500,000.
In a desperate effort to secure his brother’s freedom, Olorode allegedly agreed to deliver the ransom to the kidnappers on October 24. However, he was reportedly killed by the abductors upon arriving at their hideout.
The tragic incident has heightened concerns over the security challenges confronting rural communities in Oyo State, particularly farmers who face the risk of abduction while travelling to and from their farmlands.
Confirming Olorode’s affiliation with the security outfit, the Bajigan of Ilaji-Oke, Oba Jeremiah Oyeboade Oladosu, said the deceased was a member of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun.
However, reports clarified that Olorode undertook the ransom delivery in his personal capacity as a family member seeking his younger brother’s release, rather than as part of his official duties as an Amotekun operative.
At press time, the whereabouts of the kidnapped farmer remained unknown.
