Police shed more light on bandit with chieftaincy title

CITIZENS COMPASS– KATSINA State Police Command has shed more light about Ado Aleru, a bandit kingpin, who was conferred with a chieftaincy title in Zamfara State saying he is still on its wanted list.

Ado was conferred with Sarkin Fulani (Chief of Fulanis) over the weekend, by the Emir of Yandoto Daji in Zamfara, by the Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Alhaji Aliyu Marafa, , in a bid to forestall attacks by non-state armed groups on his territory.

Speaking on Channels Television on Monday, 18 July, 2022, Gambo Isah, Spokesperson for the command, while reacting to the chieftaincy title, said the command had declared Aleru wanted for crimes such as culpable homicide, terrorism, armed robbery, and kidnapping in Katsina.

Over 100 bandits were said to have attended the turbaning ceremony.

Isah added that Aleru is also wanted for the killing of over 100 residents of Kadisau village in Faskari Local Government Area of the state.

Meanwhile, the government of Zamfara State has suspended Emir Daji.

A statement by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Kabiru Balarabe Sardauna, said government has assigned the District Head of ‘Yandoto, Alhaji Mahe Garba Marafa to take charge of the affairs of the emirate.
