Bricklayer attacks ‘Okada rider’, snatch motorcycle

CITIZENS COMPASS- OPERATIVES of Ogun State-owned Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested a bricklayer for attacking a commercial motorcyclist and hijacking his Bajaj motorcycle.

The incident occured on Friday, November 25, 2022, when the motorcyclist (Okada rider) conveyed him to Agobaba, Yewa South Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by the Commander of the agency, Soji Ganzallo, the suspect, Shakiru Bello, 29, who resides at Penpe in Owode Yewa, was arrested by the So-Safe Corps Divisional Command under the Superintendent of Corps Fatimoh Idris.

Speaking through his Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf, he said preliminary investigation, revealed that the suspect a bricklayer confessed that on the faithful day, he boarded the motorcycle to take him to Agobaba area with the motive of snatchimg the bike from him.

According to him, the suspect allegedly directed the motorcyclist to a new site which happened to be his friend’s house.

On arrival, he picked a shovel kept by the side of the building and hit it against the motorcyclist’s head with the intention to kill him and then go away with thr bike.

Unfortunately for him, the victim who also resides in Agobaba, fainted death and later managed to contact the So-Safe office in order to get justice.

Ganzallo, said his officers swang into action, arrested the suspect and recovered the bike.

Both the suspect and the exhibit had been transfered to the Nigeria Police, Owode-Egbado Division for further investigation and likely prosecution.
