Court adjourns till Sept.29, Suit seeking to recognise authentic Baale of Orija-Okegbegun in Ikorodu

 

CITIZENS COMPASS – Justice Adeniyi Pokanu of the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikorodu, has adjourned till September 29, a suit seeking to recognise Chief Matthew Adetayo Shodipo as the authentic Olootu of Lambo Lasunwon Royal Family in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The Lasunwon Royal Family pray the court to order chief Matthew Shodipo as the only recognised Olootu and warned youths to stop contending against him as the righful Olootu installed through due process by Lambo Lasunwon royal families.

They also pray for court to recognise the Olootu as the authentic leader that has the right to nominate the Baale of Orija-Okegbegun community for installation as it was done in the past according to the tradition of the land.

The family wants the court to declare Alhaji Akeem Shodipo’s installation as wrongfully, unconstitutional, null and void.

They added that Chief Matthew Shodipo has been performing the duties of Olootu since 1984, before the youths hijacked the affairs of the families and forcefully installed Alhaji Akeem Shodipo same day nominated the baale contrary to the tradition.

Akeem Adekunle Shodipo, Idris Adeowo, Pa Jimo Mabogaje, Nurudeen Adenuga and Oba Kabir Shotobi were respondents in a suit marked 8043GCMW/2021.

The Lambo Lasunwon Royal Family said there was conflict within the royal house regarding the rotation of kingship which they said was still a contentious matter in the court and as well contributed to misconduct on confirmation of Olotu and baaleship of Oke-gbegun opposite LASUSTECH

They said chief Matthew shodipo, the incubent Olotu took over the mantle of Olotu in 2004 after the demise of chief Ezikiel Owoyemi Aina in 2004.

They said both the claimant and the defendant were from the same Lupebi branch of the family.

However, counsel to parties adopted the final rating address of their counsel upon which the matter is adjourned by Justice Pokanu until Sept.29 for judgement.
