Court remands couple who killed wife’s friend in Ogun

AN OGUN State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, on Friday ordered that a couple, Kehinde Oladimeji, 43, and Adejumoke Raji, 35, arrested for being in possession of the dismembered body of a lady be remanded in prison custody.

Recall that GWG had earlier how the couple had killed and dismembered the body of a friend of the wife. The police arrested the couple in January 2022. While being paraded, Kehinde told the police that his wife was the one who invited the deceased to their home where she killed her and dismembered her.

Kehinde claimed he was not home when his wife carried out the dastard act. He claimed that when he returned, his wife told him she killed the lady who used to be her friend because she offended her a long time ago.

The police then charged the couple to court for murder. At the court hearing, the police prosecutor, Oluwatosin Jackson, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on January 12, 2022 at their house. She said Adejumoke invited the deceased (her friend) to her house and prepared noodles with a sleeping substance. The prosecutor explained that after the deceased slept off, Adejumoke allegedly strangled her, butchered her body, and sold her head for N70,000 to a ritualist at Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The offence contravenes sections 324 and 319(1) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun State 2006.”

The magistrate thereafter ordered the suspects be remanded at the Oba and Ibara custodial centers respectively, pending legal advice from the Ogun State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

She adjourned the case till April 29 for mention.
