CITIZENS COMPASS—The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Osinowo today lauded the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,  Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his foresight and commitment to local government autonomy and grassroots development which has enabled Lagos State to enjoy robust, inclusive growth. He said this on Saturday when after casting his vote at Ward D, Iyase close in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Trek Africa Newspaper can report.

Commenting on the LGA/LCDA Chairmanship and councillorship polls in Lagos, the Chairman noted: ‘We can say the turnout is massive and everybody has been voting in and out. But at the early stage it was slow but about one hour later we saw a massive turnout of electorates coming out to cast their votes. According to the LASIEC, they are almost done with their ballot paper here. The police, the security agencies are working hand in hand with the LASIEC. You can see their DPO moving around with other sister agencies. So far so good, it has been a peaceful process.’

‘The local government elections are so overwhelming that people are coming out in large numbers to vote. This shows that people are in support of the electoral process that’s going on, especially at the local government level. You can see the outstanding performances of all the local government chairmen in Lagos state, people are starting to believe in the local government system because of what the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu did.’

‘The Local Government Autonomy has actually impacted the grassroots governance and development. It has certainly increased the confidence of the people. And also, you know, the allocation that we’re getting from the Federal government has actually increased, and that has actually translated into better projects across the local government and LCDAs in the state. We know that at the end of the day, we’ll see a massive turnout, and this will actually translate to the 2027 general election.’

For the winners who will emerge from today’s elections, he advised: ‘Those people who are coming next as Chairmen across the state, whoever emerges as the winner of this local government election and LCDA will actually follow the template that has been laid down by people, like me; what I’ve done in Agboyi Ketu, because I have a few days to leave office now. My expectation is that my party shall come out victoriously.’
