Driver injured as truck falls in Lagos

 

CITIZENS COMPASS– A truck driver on Thursday, sustained injuries in Lagos when the laden with 13,000 litres of Automatic Gas Oil (diesel), fell sideways along Lagos/Abeokuta Tollgate.

 

The incident occurred at day time.

However, there was no record of death.

 

Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu  confirmed the incident in his situation report.

 

He attributed the cause to reckless driving.

 

“On arrival at the incident scene, a tanker truck laden with 13,000 litres of Automatic Gas Oil (diesel) fell off its sideways while driving along the carriageway.

 

“Investigation conducted revealed the immediate cause of the accident was due to reckless driving and break failure.

“Further investigation revealed the accidented truck, while trying to avert an imminent crash with another articulated truck, veered off the road, crashed before the fence in a building.

“The driver, who was alleged to have sustained some injuries on his left hand and leg,was taken to hospital .

“The spilled product is being blanketed by Lagos Fire Service while transloading into another truck ongoing.”
