Drunk driver abandons boss’ car, lies that robbers attacked him 

CITIZENS COMPASS– MEN of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), have arrested a drunk driver who abandoned his boss’ car at Allen Avenue, in Lagos but lied to the boss that he was attacked by armed robbers.

The driver was said to have dropped the boss on Saturday, 30 July, 2022, after the close of work but rather than park the car, he drove himself to a social function where he drank to stuppor and left the car at the venue. 

It was learnt that he woke up the following day with the car key in his pocket but could not remember where he parked the car.

When the pressure was much on him, he was said to have lied to his boss that the car was stolen on gun point. 

The matter later got to the Police and the scenario was exposed during investigations. 

Two days after the car was abandoned, officials of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, on Monday, August 1, 2022 recovered the car, a 2014 Nissan Altima.

Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin haa advised Lagosians to be wary of their domestic staffs.

In his tweets on Thursday , he said,

“Do proper background checks before employing personal and domestic staff. 

“Officials of Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Monday, August 1, 2022 recovered a 2014 Nissan Altima abandoned by a drunk driver at Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos two days before. 

“The driver abandoned his boss’ vehicle at Allen Avenue after getting drunk on Saturday night. 

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, after dropping off his boss at his residence in Magodo, rather than park the vehicle, sneaked out with it to party around Ikeja. 

“The driver woke up on Sunday morning with the car key in his pocket but could not remember where he had parked the vehicle. 

“The driver said to the Police, ‘After all means to locate the vehicle proved futile, 

I had no alternative but to lie to my boss that I was robbed and that the vehicle had been driven away.”
