Fire outbreak as truck bursts into flame in Lagos

CITIZENS COMPASS– A major fire outbreak reportedly occurred at Otto Wharf, Mile 2, Lagos State, after a tanker- laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), burst into flame.

This occured in the afternoon but details of the incident could not be ascertained at press time.

The incident threw the vicinity into panic as residents and road users ran helter-skelter.

Reacting to the development, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said, “The agency activated its response plan to distress calls at the above location.

“Upon arrival at the scene by the agency response team , a fire outbreak from a fuel tanker and drums was encountered.

“LRT, LRU FIRE alongside LASG FIRE and FED FIRE are currently battling the inferno to contain it.

“Operation still on going.
Members of the public are to refrain from using any naked flame while motorists are to avoid the area.”

The Mile 2 incident occured barely 24 hours after fire gutted a section of Oko-Baba sawmill in Ebute-Meta.
