Fleeing suspects abandon 32 iPhones, five laptops, others in Lagos 

 

CITIZENS COMPASS—Two fleeing suspects have abandoned 75 mobile gadgets including iPhones and laptops in the Ikeja area of Lagos.

Other items abandoned by the fleeing suspects include 38 other smartphones of various brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor.

This was according to a statement by spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, over the weekend.

She said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) recovered the abandoned items.

According to her, “Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have recovered a significant number of electronic gadgets during a routine patrol in the Ikeja area. The recovery followed the interception of two fleeing suspects who abandoned two large “Ghana Must Go” bags upon sighting the operatives near Allen Roundabout, Ikeja, Lagos.

“On Sunday, 5th October, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m., the operatives inspected the bags and discovered 32 iPhones of different models, alongside 38 other smartphones of various brands such as Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor. Also recovered were five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and a number of damaged phones suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and its environs.

“Speaking on the recovery, the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Shola Jejeloye, stated that preliminary investigations revealed the items were stolen property hurriedly abandoned by the suspects. He urged members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters, Alausa, with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and reclaim.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their vigilance and swift response. He lauded their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the continuous enhancement of public safety across Lagos State.”
