FUEL CRISIS: Onuesoke recommends sanction for importers of adulterated fuel in Nigeria

A CHIEFTAIN of People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has recommended sanction for anybody found to be involved in the importation of the adulterated fuel said to be responsible for the ongoing fuel scarcity in some parts of the country.

Speaking at a forum which took place in Lagos, he lamented the fact that the nation is yet to find a solution to fuel scarcity 65 years after becoming an oil-producing country and Africa’s largest petroleum producer.

The former gubernatorial aspirant in Delta State, who recommended the sanction urged the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to expedite action over the matter.  He said, ” I wonder which country or buyer would patronise this type of product without standard test reports both at the point of loading and discharge.”

“A standardized method should have been in place to confirm that products coming into the country are within the set-up ranges. If this happens, the imported dirty products should have been confirmed to meet the standard before releasing them to the public.” He added.
